Local Area set-aside contracts
SAM.gov set-aside type: Local Area Set-Aside (FAR 26.2).
A local area set-aside comes from FAR subpart 26.2 (Disaster or Emergency Assistance Activities), which carries out the Stafford Act preference for local firms. After a major disaster or emergency declaration, agencies can limit competition for disaster-recovery work to businesses that reside or primarily do business in the declared disaster area. This applies to firms of any size, though small businesses in the area often benefit. See FAR subpart 26.2 for the details.
